There are days when you really feel like creating something. Reach for the crochet hook, take a soft string in your hand and get away from everything for a moment. But before you can sit down, a list of responsibilities reminds you. Work, home, things to do... and suddenly it turns out that the evening has already passed.
And then the thought appears: "maybe this weekend."
And then the weekend looks exactly the same.
The truth is that most of us don't have an abundance of "free time." And if you wait for the moment when everything calms down, you may be waiting for a really long time. So instead of looking for the perfect time, it's worth starting to notice the time you already have - even if it doesn't seem like much at first glance.
Handicraft does not have to mean spending several hours on one project. Sometimes just a few minutes is enough to do a piece of work and feel that pleasant satisfaction. Morning coffee can become a moment for the first few eyes. An evening that usually ends with scrolling through your phone can turn into leisurely, repetitive crocheting movements. Even while watching the series, you can create - no pressure, no rush.
Over time, you start to notice that these little moments really add up. The project that seemed "once upon a time" is slowly taking shape. And more importantly - the feeling for which you started creating in the first place returns. Peace, concentration, detachment from everyday life.
The choice of designs also makes a big difference. When the day is full to the brim, it is difficult to find pleasure in something that requires constant counting, concentration and ideal conditions. That's why simple forms work best in such moments. The ones you can come back to even after a few days and immediately know where you were. Small projects, quick effects, repeatable weaves - these are what make handicraft something light, not just another task.
Sometimes the problem is not even a lack of time, but... a lack of energy to start. Because you have to take something out, prepare it, find it. That's why it's good to have your own little "readiness corner" - a place or basket where everything is waiting for you. String, crochet, a project started. Without thinking, without postponing. You sit down and just start.
In all this, however, one thing is most important: handicrafts should not be an obligation. It's not something you "have to do." It's something you can come back to when you need a moment to yourself. And even if you only manage to complete a few rows in a week, it still matters.
Because it's not about the pace.
The point is to find a moment just for yourself in all this.
And maybe that's where you should start - not with planning big projects, but with these few minutes a day. The ones you can actually find.
